A man doesn't notice that doomsday is happening around him.
One man is so caught up in his daily routines, worries and preoccupations that he fails to notice that the apocalypse is happening around him. And when he finally snaps back to reality — and discovers swarms of bats infesting his home — it just might be too late.
Director Marcus Alqueres — whose previous short was optioned for a feature by Sony — uses consummate craft and tightly wound editing and pacing to ratchet up the tension in his horror short. The production value and camerawork and rich and expansive, creating a palpable sense of a world beyond what we see on the screen.
There are moments of wry humor laced throughout the action, as well as judicious use of special effects. But like the best films in the genre, “Lasiurus” delivers plenty of chills and dread with remarkable skill.
