People In Cars
Everyday conversations inside cars about love, relationships and mistakes.
A cross section of people in Sweden are on the precipice of major life decisions and revelations.
And all of them are having important conversations in cars, whether it’s telling the truth about past indiscretions, confessing their love or trying to get support from someone they love for a possible romantic disaster.
Director Daniel Lundh’s film is a simple elegant premise and set-up, but well-executed with excellent writing and acting. The stories take their time to unravel, but when they do, the honest, precise performances convey everything from dashed hopes to realized fears.
Multiple stories unfold, and while they all vary in circumstance, what they have in common is a reckoning with the truth — and what it means for their lives going forward.
Not much happens on the surface, at first — but the moments of epiphany and quiet devastation are relatable and universal. No matter what the language, speaking honestly and vulnerably takes major courage — even if it means almost certain heartbreak.
