We Live This
Meet 4 boys from the projects who dance on the subway to pursue their dreams.
Four boys from the projects come together to pursue their dreams on the subways of New York City in filmmaker James Burns’ heartfelt documentary.
The ‘We Live This’ crew are four boys — Forty, Tyty, Ted and Kahlil — who perform together as a dance group for money in the New York subways.
Even in the face of jaded, bored or even negative audience reaction, the boys give it their all, performing with power and guts as if their lives depended on it.
In fact, their future is at stake with every day and every performance. As they say in the film, “the train is a way out for me.”
James Burns’ skillful, immersive direction offers an intimate, nuanced portrait of the four performers, getting us invested in their hopes, dreams, triumphs and disappointments. The film shows how seriously the crew takes their work — and just what the stakes are for them.
Get to know these “showtime” kids in “We Live This” — and witness the heart and soul that lies behind the slick moves and high-energy entertainment.
