Notes On a Case of Nicholas Gurewitch
Meet a comics artist creating a picture book about 'death'.
Filmmakers Peter Davis, Eric Laplante and Hunter Schlesingers take a look at the whimsical mind and process of Nicholas Gurewitch, creator of “The Perry Bible Fellowship,” as he struggles to finish his long overdue book, “Notes On a Case of Melancholia.”
Three years ago, Gurewitch raised $100,000 on Kickstarter to produce a picture book about Death and his despair of his kid — an affectionate “Little Death” who simply doesn’t have what it takes to carry on the family business. He hand-etched all the illustrations, giving the story a Gothic atmosphere.
But the book is over a year and a half late.
Gurewitch explains the project and the work he’s doing on it — including the creative process that people don’t see. He’s devoted his entire life to the book — and it’s all that he ever thinks about.
